In less than a week a new Miss LSU USA will be crowned…
Everyone is asking me, “Are you sad…or ready to give up?” My answer is always the same.
Of course I don’t want to give up the title that has given me countless opportunities, but I am ready to give this opportunity to another lucky girl! Being a public figure, especially at such a wonderful university, was always a dream of mine and like all wonderful dreams, I don’t want it to end.
However, it is time for me to wake up. From welcoming the incoming freshmen at LSU this year… to attending Miss Louisiana USA, I’ve done everything that I could have possibly imagined and more! Being Miss LSU-USA may just seem like a beauty pageant title, but it truly is so much more than that.
Being Miss LSU-USA is being an ambassador for the school, participating in community service and learning to be as relatable and social as possible…all while wearing high heels. At times the crown did get heavy (metaphorically) but being able to balance it with my already busy schedule made it so worth it.
I can happily say that I have never said no to an appearance, even when I had 30 minutes to get from one appearance to another. It was such an honor representing Louisiana State University this year and there’s not one thing that I would change!
Thank you, Delta Zeta, for putting on this amazing pageant and giving girls the opportunity to collect such beautiful memories and letting them make what they want of their year. You truly get out of it what you put into it.
I’m so very thankful for giving back to the school that has given so much to me. I started LSU as a cub but with the help of Miss LSU USA, our beautiful university, and my countless supporters, followers and fans, I have grown into a fierce tiger. Thank you and I hope you see you all this Sunday at the LSU Union Theatre at 6:00!
Love,
Ashley Victoria Barbier
